What We Do For Love

Suitcase - NYFW

Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in New York (NYFW) is over and London has started. Milan and Paris are in the next weeks to come. Fabwick will not cover the European fashion weeks this season. We are not there and we don’t write from afar – Also we’re focusing on other matters.

Bryant Park - inside the tents

NYFW was fabulously wicked all the way around. Days of running to and from the tents in platforms, hailing cabs in the rain, sweating over what to wear next, drinking champagne on an empty stomach, steaming Marni shirts in the bathroom, eating a slice of pizza at 3AM, anxiously finding the next WIFI location to submit a new piece, not fitting into the Jimmy Choo’s because of bloated feet, squeezing in a yoga class between shows to detox, purchasing more foundation to hide eye bags, seeing Lady Gaga up-close and personal, finally witnessing live our icon Anna Wintour for the first time, feeling like a whale next to the Conde Nast girls, getting our pictures taken and feeling more worthy, yelling at cab drivers, standing in a line at the tents for an hour on Prada double-platforms and feeling so D-list, milking the sponsored beverages at the tents: McCafe and Chambord cocktails, realizing that being on the D-list is not too shabby when your wardrobe is worth more than the equity in your house, having a love-hate relationship with our Blackberry’s, writing until 4AM – getting up at 8AM.

Fabwick’s favorite day (Sept 16th) included showings of Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Peter Som and Anna Sui, followed by cheap Mexican food with friends (including photographer Jon Cottam), followed by cocktails at the Bowery Hotel with more friends, followed by observing urban art on the streets of New York, followed by two slices of pizza at 4AM followed by: Good Night New York – We love you!
