Night In Seattle Without A Date?

Art Restaurant & Lounge, Four Season
May we suggest a recipe for a chic little date with you and you? Put on that big yummy cardigan from last fall, leggings and your new boots. Let your hair down, put on a light foundation and red lipstick. Get yourself down to the Art lounge at the Four Seasons on Union and 1st. Enter and celebrate the fireplace in the lobby, take a right turn into the lounge and find a seat that has your name on it (the big armchairs are très comfortable). For a drink, be tempted by the Bellinitini – you will love. For food: order a couple of salmon mini-burgers (not “sliders!”)– one with truffle butter and the other with Portobello. Just sit, drink, eat and be happy. Write in your journal or read a chapter in your book. Just enjoy being carefree.
Next stop: Loews Uptown Theatre on Lower Queen Anne. Movie: The September Issue. We Seattleites often have to wait for documentary movies to come to a theatre near us. It’s as if we live in a third world country, but alas it’s here, and it’s an impeccably well-made documentary by R.J. Cutler.
The film was shot in 2007 from February-August (from Fashion Week to printing). This was the year when creativity was at its highest in fashion, before everything got toned down due to the economic climate. Stefano Pilati gave us serious volume and brought back the raglan-sleeved coats and tuxedo jackets for Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano showed 1930’s Hollywood extraodinaire for Dior, and Olivier Theyskens focused on the classic Ricci L’Air du Temps perfume bottle that gave birth to waves and feathers. For those in doubt about Anna’s humanity – you’ll see that she’s running an empire, but she’s also a mother. Another twist, The September Issue is a film about Grace Coddington.
Next stop: Home, run a bubble bath – grab your October issue of Vogue and a nightcap and soak yourself. Bon Nuit!
