Kickstarter – Support A Creative Mind Today
Kickstarter is a new company that helps to fund creative ideas. It exists to motivate and support artists: filmmakers, designers, and writers… People who don’t have backers, grants or other resources (and/or have come up short) can apply to Kickstarter for support. They have to be approved/invited by Kickstarter and it helps to have a clear and well-executed presentation. Create, apply, wait, be funded and complete the work. The beauty is that everyone can pledge their support with as little as $5 to support a project they believe in – and be awarded for doing so. This is micro-financing for artists! If you’re not a creator but want to support and help develop creative minds – get involved.
One of the truly cool projects in development now being pledged on Kickstater is the Lumi project – a new textile printing development. “…(it) will feature a line of limited edition accessories and high-quality art prints. It’s eco-friendly, fashionable, and — in our book — pretty damn cool. Backers can pledge to receive all number of neat Lumi goods, including coasters, wallets and leather (!!) envelopes”. Stunning!
Another terrific project taking funding pledges on Kickstarter: Afterlife - a heartwarming film based on a true story. “This insightful film gently touches the human spirit and encourages the power of overcoming life’s physical, spiritual, and emotional trials and shows us that there are things in life worth fighting for”.
A couple of Kickstarter’s mottos:
A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.
Kickstarter might be the coolest invention of a platform I’ve ever heard of…
