Happy Budget Shopping!

As if we didn’t spend enough money over the holidays on everything from a New Year’s Eve dress to food for entertaining to champagne to Christmas gifts to shopping sample sales – why do sample sales happen around the holidays? And once the sample sales sail away we encounter serious designer markdowns from all of our favorite retailers – including spotting a pink python over the shoulder Lanvin little handbag number at Bergdorf Goodman (which I made myself walk away from – that one really did hurt, ouch!).

Trying to be good and not bruise my bank account much more (it could use a little recovery time to balance back to a more health-conscious Orman state of mind) -  I still want-need-and-got-to-have the few items that are sorely missing from my wardrobe. So, how about releasing the need for Lanvin and Céline for now and shop “normal” stores? I mean!

These inexpensive items are what I needed to fill in the blanks of my closet – I couldn’t believe it.  Simply marvelous bargains. This ought to trick my husband into believing that I’ve been cured – and no longer sell my soul to Parisian fashion houses.

Happy New Year Recessionistas!
