The Gold Curtain Behind Chris Benz

Inside the fashion industry, Chis Benz is known for “putting on a show” – although his shows are presentations. His presentations are always a bit theatrical. This season he invited people to the promenade of Avery Fisher Hall. His models were lined up against a sequined gold curtain matched with cabaret music. Very retro chic.

Benz is celebrating women dressing up again, with full looks including the Marilyn Monroe wigs. It might be a tad overload for a modest shy girl – or a bit much of the olden golden days flair. But for all the women who love to dress up, and feel vintage Parisian, there were plenty of complete looks to choose from. And when deconstructing the looks – the tea length frocks, cardi’s, cropped 50’s trousers, paillette gowns, and petticoats – they’re all pieces that could easily be added to any woman’s wardrobe who wants to feel feminine without going too Judy Garland.

I met Chris Benz during a personal appearance in Seattle a few years back, and I definitely have a bit of a boy crush on him. He’s got the whole thing kind of right: he’s got a confident swagger, knows how to showcase glamorous party dresses, and make beautiful cashmere sweaters. We don’t need much more in a boy!

These are my humble images…
