Balanced Weekend
When life gets a little nutty, we tend to dream of calmness. When life is uneventful, we crave excitement. But when our lives are balanced, there’s not much else we can want or ask for. The art of balancing family, career, and our social calendar takes not only discipline, but for me, changing years of making the same mistake of taking on too much. What’s it going to take for me to learn how to say no when life gets a little overcrowded?
Must think balance:
1. Equal distribution of weight, amount, etc.
2. Something used to produce equilibrium; counterpoise.
3. Mental steadiness or emotional stability
4. A state of bodily equilibrium
Last week, while we celebrated Embla’s graduation, hosted two parties, went out to dinner three times, started rehearsing a new play, had friends in from out of town, co-hosted a charity event, and realized that we are a family of five now (will explain later), I completely dropped my yoga practice, stayed up way too late, and forgot to take my vitamins. This week I’ve been sick in bed.
Must remember balance.
This weekend I’m planning on the following calm activities:
Read these blog posts on Cup of Jo – on mothers balancing work and home
Finish The Law And The Promise by Neville Goddard (a wonderful book my cousie just sent me)
Plan our Arizona trip for August – when we send Embla off to college (I’m in denial)
Get back to my yoga practice
See movies: Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson and To Rome With Love, the new Woody Allen
Sleep, sleep, and sleep more
Cook vegetarian meals and drink a ton of water
What are your weekend plans? Tell me everything!
