After you watch the sequel you might ask yourself: This is it? Their deepest worry at the end is getting to the airport in Abu Dhabi (to fly back home) early enough – so they don’t have to fly coach. Yeah, coach sucks, sitting between fat Bill from Idaho and the stingy NPR lady that brings her nasty tahini sandwich on the plane and judges you for knocking down a couple of stiff ones on the flight sucks, we get it. But common, no?

The wardrobe is simply fabulous and it’s all about the clothes – not the accessories. In the first film there were belts with every outfit, lots of handbags (Chanel and YSL), and gladiators (like the black Dior that Carrie wore in the first scene that sold out before they hit the floor).  The lead accessory in the sequel is a headpiece – don’t mind if I do. From a beautiful black bandeau Carrie wears in Stanford’s wedding to a turban in a desert scene. There are beautiful shoes, but they’re there to accompany the outfit – not to make the outfit, i.e. the tri-color Louboutin on Charlotte in her full on pink Dior look.

Do we want more obstacles in this film to overcome? Not necessarily, but if there will be another sequel, we need something to go down so it can come up again. I did miss the big heart from the first film, and yet I do love the fact that the film is more about being a comedy now. We do have the pleasure of experiencing the real stuff we can relate to so well. The film does a great job at showing us the reality of their daily lives and there’s something there for every woman to relate to. Whether it’s not being heard by male coworker, the emotional strain of being a mother, menopause, and/or the sparkle or the lack of it in our marriages. How to keep it alive? If you don’t pay attention to it – it will shift to something a woman might not be so ready for. Well, not if she’s all about staying in love – like some of us are.

OK. The forbidden kiss. The kiss is a big deal and in my opinion it is cheating, but we do understand the fact that Carrie acts on it – especially after being tanked by the New Yorker. Believe me I’ve been there (well, the Village Voice and Time Out).

In the wardrobe, we’re seeing everything from a Keith Haring third eye dress on Samatha to a flowy beautiful Hermes gown on Miranda. There’s a lot of Halston – go figure. Now that our lead star is the president of this iconic New York fashion house and the fact that Liza Minnelli is a “single lady” in the film – Halston is the only way. Carrie also wears a couple of Halston Heritage dresses – the new fusion line by Halston. Very chic and doesn’t break the bank

Everyone should see the film – but King, please throw us a heavy bone to dig up in No. 3.

P.S. Please make a note of the closet scene with Carrie as she packs for Abu Dhabi- look at the shoes on the shelf. Notice anything? To me they look like a bunch of pairs in size 39 or 40 – really, that’s Carrie’s size? Or did they just get a bunch of model sizes to throw on the shelf? Some of us do pay attention to the details.

I’m sorry about the chaos that nature in my country has caused, but I’m not sorry to be Icelandic. Of that I couldn’t be more proud– the strength and the courage of my people are phenomenal. After being robbed by a handful of fake moguls, listening to our imbecilic president say that this is just the beginning and there’s more to come, and then being blamed by the world for a volcanic eruption, a nation acquired strength. And strength is what Icelanders have never lacked. We’re still Vikings – all the way through. But we didn’t do it – I swear we’re Innocent!

Halston Jersey

Before Halston relaunched in 2008, I used to search tirelessly for a jersey vintage Halston. My obsession for certain vintage design like Lanvin, Dior, Schiaparelli and Halston, is severely deep and can be the cause of a heavy depression when there’s no outlook for conquering.

In the mid-nineties, several women in Manhattan also searched for the perfect, vintage Halston jersey dress. Only a handful of them succeeded in that search, and several women were left out in the cold with broken hearts. If a woman sets her mind on a certain item of clothing, she has no peace of mind until that item rests in her closet, whether she’ll actually wear it or not. If she wants it, she shall get it.

That said, when there is a certain piece from a different era on a woman’s mind, it’s not simple to find. And when a fashion house is part of our history, there isn’t much hope. After all, how many Schiaparelli coats are out there? One?

When Halston came back to life, I felt a shining warm feeling inside. That feeling was revived today when I found several iconic Halston pieces at half-price on Outnet.com.

Every woman that never got her vintage jersey, and all the others that do not wear vintage (and yet cannot fathom paying full price for Halston), can now unite and celebrate that the impossibly-chic Halston jersey is accessible for half the price.

Being on an emotional Halston roller coaster, I really cannot project what will happen for Fall 2010 when we’ll get to see how Marios Schwab has interpreted this never dying, iconic brand.
